OUR COLLABORATORS

The invaluable scientific resources that we have created, such as the Indian Biodiversity Research Collections, Butterflies of India website, and the Indian Butterfly Monitoring Scheme, have naturally led to extensive global collaborations on molecular systematics to build the Tree of Life of butterflies, cicadas, amphibians, and to a lesser degree, of jumping spiders, in which my group has contributed genomic/DNA sequences of Indian taxa, to species discovery across India’s biodiversity hotspots, and to insights into biodiversity research and conservation policy. The following collaborations have been particularly noteworthy (publications listed under the Publications page):

Butterflies (Main collaborators):
Dr. David Lohman (City University of New York, USA)
Dr. Naomi Pierce (Harvard University, USA)
Dr. Akito Kawahara (University of Florida, Gainesville, USA)
Dr. Felix Sperling (University of Toronto, Canada)
Dr. Fabien Condamine (CNRS, France)

Cicadas (Main collaborator): Dr. Chris Simon (University of Connecticut, USA).

Jumping Spiders (Main collaborators): Dr. Wayne Maddison and Kiran Marathe (University of British Columbia, Canada)

Amphibians (Main collaborators):
Dr. Emily Lemmon-Moriarty and Dr. Alan Lemmon (Florida State University, USA)
Dr. David W. Weisrock (University of Kentucky, USA)

Species Discoveries (Main collaborators):
Butterflies and Moths (Lepidoptera): Sanjay Sondhi (Titli Trust, India), Dr. Dipendra Nath Basu (Ashoka University, India, a former PhD student in the Biodiversity Lab), Ujwala Pawar (current PhD student).
Odonata: Dr. Dattaprasad Sawant (Indian Foundation for Butterflies Trust, India), Shantanu Joshi (University of Kansas, USA)
Cicadas and Jumping Spiders: Kiran Marathe (University of British Columbia, Canada, a former research assistant in the Biodiversity Lab)
